Is your Roku stick not functioning properly? Then, most of the time, it might be the problem of your Roku Remote controller but not your Roku Streaming Stick.
The Remote controller of your Roku stick is an enhanced “point anywhere” remote which uses a wireless connection and you don’t need to point the Remote exactly towards your Streaming stick. Instead, you can point it anywhere. This is because the Remote uses the internet connection of your home and pairs with your stick. And so, your Remote controller plays a significant role when it comes for Roku setup.
We provide you some troubleshooting steps to resolve your problem of Roku stick not working well.
Steps to Troubleshoot Roku Stick Not Working

1. Reboot your Roku Device and Remote
To restart your Roku Remote, you have to remove the batteries of your Remote initially. Then, turn off the power connection and remove your Roku device from the plug and wait for five seconds. Try plug it again after the tenure. Now, when the home screen displays, you can just position the batteries into the Remote. Wait for 30 seconds for internet connection and press any button to check if it is working!
2. Re-pair the Remote Controller
Once you remove the batteries, you have to follow the same procedure mentioned in the above step up to positioning the batteries again into the Remote. After that, just long press and hold the pairing button in your Remote till the Remote flashes the pairing button. Ensure that this process takes 3 to 5 seconds. Once the pairing dialogue displays on your home screen, stay again for 30 seconds until your Remote connects with your home network.
3. Change the Batteries
Still, if your Roku stick not working, you have to follow the same first step up to placing the batteries into the Remote. But you should not position the same batteries. Instead, try with using the new batteries and continue with the same process of waiting for 30 seconds to confirm the broadband connection and click one button to confirm whether it is operating.
Though you tried with all the three steps, if you couldn’t rectify the problem, you can download the Roku app as an alternative in emergency situations. And buy a new Remote afterward.
